Brandon McNulty will miss the World Cup in Wollongong. The UAE Emirates rider was the front-runner in America’s original selection but will not travel to Australia due to fatigue. Scott McGill and Keegan Swenson will start again.
In late August, the United States Cycling Federation announced the team for the World Road Championships on Sunday, September 25. The team consisted of five riders: Neilson Powles, Magnus Sheffield, Kyle Murphy, Lawson Craddock and Brandon McNulty. The latter was absent from the final selection, but that selection is now supplemented by the aforementioned two riders, McGill and Swenson.
McGill recently won two stages at the Tour of Portugal, while Swenson is the American cross country mountain bike champion. In the men’s road race of the world championships, the United States starts with McGill and Swenson, who start with six riders. They are fielding two riders for the time trial: Craddock and Sheffield will be at the start of the chrono trial next Sunday.
