Burr Gallery gets new look
by Staff Report
Cheraw Arts Commission Board members and staff have been busy selecting colors and applying a fresh coat of paint to the Burr Gallery at the Cheraw Community Center. Plans are to have the gallery area completed before the Gallery Exhibit Opening on Thursday, Sept. 5.
Several Dizzy Gillespie batiks created by former Cheraw High art students will be displayed in the reception space and provided inspiration for the new colors. Board chairman Reba Brooks and Board member Tanya Rosera selected wall colors that would complement the batiks, as well as other artwork.
Board members Richard Branson, Robin Bersinger and CAC staff have been involved in the painting process and have a new appreciation for professional painters.
The featured exhibit for September is Divine Ornaments - Metal Clay Jewelry by metal Artisan Carrie Story. The public is invited to meet the artist from 4 to 6 p.m. at the gallery on 200 Powe Street and check out the group’s efforts.
The Cheraw Arts Commission is supported by the United Way of Chesterfield County and the SC Arts Commission which receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
