Chesterfield count sheriff’s department purchased new vehicles

The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s office recently purchased several cars from Bennett Motor Company in Cheraw, taking advantage of state programs and discounts that not only saved the county $6,000 but also allowed the sheriff to purchase an extra vehicle.
“We are happy to be doing business locally,” said Chesterfield County Sheriff Robert Lee. “And we’re very glad to be under budget. Mr. Bennett took a lot of time looking into various programs for us and helped us save a lot of money.”
Lee chose a pre-owned 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe for himself, and two Chevrolet 1500 trucks for his deputies. The trucks will replace vehicles currently owned by the department with more than 150,000 miles, said Lee.
“It’s important to be wise stewards of the taxpayer’s funds,” said Lee. “Whenever possible, we will purchase from businesses in Chesterfield County to support our local business community.”
“The incentives offered by General Motors made the purchase more appealing,” said Lee. “We did contact other agencies and dealers for bids to make sure we were getting the best offer possible.”
Bennett said he was glad to be able to help save county tax dollars and grateful for the opportunity to work with the sheriff.
