The Cheraw Arts Commission presents South Carolina’s premier professional choral group, The Sandlapper Singers, Thursday, May 29, at the Theatre on the Green in Cheraw. The doors will open at 7 p.m.; the concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
Founded in 1996, the Sandlapper Singers present American choral music in a uniquely entertaining and engaging style, said Lindsay Bennett, executive director of the Cheraw Arts Commission.
Directed and founded by Dr. Lillian Quackenbush, the singers specialize in the works of American composers, past and present. They offer a mix of both familiar and new music.
The evening’s program. “Portrait of Americans,” features music by Cole Porter, Aaron Copland, Stephen Paulus, Moses Hogan and more.
The group’s mission is to celebrate the joy of American choral music and pass it on for generations to come.
Proceeds from concerts support choral programs in South Carolina schools.
Tickets are $7 for students, and $10 for adults.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Cheraw Community Center, and will be available at the door the evening of the concert.
