WALLACE, S.C. — William A. Boatwright, 84, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014.


Born in Chesterfield, S.C., he was a son of the late Ola Boatwright and widower of his wife, Sallie Creech Boatwright.


He was retired from the town of Cheraw. Mr. Boatwright was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed woodcrafts, fishing and being at the river. He loved spending time with his great-grandchildren.


Surviving are a son, Lance Boatwright (Betty) of Cheraw; a daughter, Darlene B. Jenkins (James) of Fair Bluff, N.C.; a brother, James Malloy of Hartsville; a sister, Lucille Threadkill of Cheraw; grandchildren, Sabrina J. Ward (Stephen), J. William Jenkins (Jill), Angie D. Boatwright, Alesha M. Boatwright, A. Chad Boatwright (Nicole) and N. Leanne Boatwright; and eight great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his mother and wife listed above; a son, William Darrell Boatwright; a daughter, Sheila Lynne Boatwright and several brothers and sisters.


The family will received friends on Jan. 19 at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw.


A funeral service was held on Jan. 19 in the chapel of Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw. Burial with military honors was at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
