Paul Nardi was hit in the face by Kevin Dinke’s knee when scoring Cercle Brugge’s 2-0 goal against KA Gent. The goalkeeper remained down and had to be removed.
The KAA Gent goalkeeper – who had a past at Cercle Brugge – was immediately taken to hospital in an ambulance for further tests. The first major investigations have now been carried out.
Groggy, but conscious
“Paul was conscious, but groggy. He had difficulty speaking and couldn’t see much,” Hein Vanhisbrouck was concerned after the match. He added: “I hope it’s nothing more serious than a serious concussion, but I think he’ll be out for a while anyway.”
Buffaloes team press spokesman Tom Vandenbulcke has now announced that no bleeding or fractures were detected and that it was in fact just a serious concussion.
