Weather ruined the trip of US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to an island off Cornwall.
The two leaders will meet at Mount St. Michael, a fortress on a tidal island, to prepare for the G7 summit. Their wives, Carrie Johnson and Jill Biden, will also visit the island, while the two men talk about Brexit, the coronavirus pandemic and climate change, among other things.
But a source in 10 Downing Street said the flight was unfortunately canceled due to the weather. Weather forecasts for Marazion, the closest town to Saint Michael’s Mount, say heavy rain and a mild breeze around dinner time. Biden and Johnson will now meet in Carbis Bay, the venue for the G7 summit.
Biden arrived in England on Wednesday for the G7 summit. He also goes to Brussels to attend NATO and European Union summits. Next Wednesday, Biden heads to Switzerland for the final meeting on his first foreign trip as president, where he will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. They meet at Villa La Grange, an eighteenth-century country house on Lake Geneva.
