On the second day of the dressage competition, two nationals once again got into action during the playoffs. Laurence Roos competed in Group D and received 70,699 points from the jury for her performance with Phil Rouge. That was not enough for the final. Domaine Michaels also came in a bit short with 70.202.
Roos gave Phil Rouge a meaningful kiss after her trial. She could be satisfied with her performance on the back of her 16-year-old horse. The jury awarded the Belgian group a score of 70699.
It wasn’t enough to take the lead from Christian Schumach, but Ross stayed in second for a long time. So you could briefly dream about the final, but the last two riders were doing really well. Dane Cruz and American Lyle still jump to 1 and 2.
Roos had to settle for 4th, with only the first 2 of each series leading straight and based on her score she could no longer be eliminated.
In the Roos series, the rider was also eliminated. Caroline Chiu had to stop her trial because her horse was bleeding from his mouth. It’s a real breaker for her as she was only the first female dressage contestant from Singapore in the history of the Games.

Domain Michaels also gets a good grade, but he’s not progressing
Domian Michels of Leuven was the last Belgian to play in Tokyo. He sang with Intermezzo van het Meerdaalhof. With 70.202, he certainly wasn’t a bad performer, but halfway through his group it was already clear that wouldn’t be enough for the final.
