After eight years of inactivity, the Boeing 757 was dismantled at Brussels Airport

Equatorial Congo Air (ECAir) from Congo-Brazzaville, Africa, ceased flight operations in 2016 after it could no longer pay its bills. An officer seized a number of the company's planes that were at Brussels Airport. Of these aircraft, only 757 with registration HB-JJE still exist.

Private
ECAir was founded in 2010 by the Congo-Brazzaville government with the help of PrivatAir, a Swiss wet-lease company that at the time flew for KLM a 737BBJ between Schiphol and Houston. In order not to end up on the European blacklist, some of the planes were flown by PrivatAir, hence the Swiss code HB in the registration.

Partly due to the demise of ECAir, PrivatAir also went bankrupt in 2018.

Because of the seizure of the 757, Brussels Airport had little use for it for a long time, but the airport was eventually able to acquire the plane. It has now been sold to Eco Fly to be scrapped. This process is likely to be completed by the end of March. Due to its age and long period without maintenance, recommissioning by another company was not an option.
