Besnik Hassi has been without a club since his dismissal from Al-Ahly Saudi Arabia in March 2022. He previously coached Al-Raed, Olympiacos, Legia Warsaw, and of course Anderlecht. He led the Purple and White team to the title in the 2013-2014 season.
Hassi faces a difficult task with KV Mechelen, who is only 14th in the league after a disappointing start to the season. A cup elimination to amateur club Knock last week led to the departure of Steven Devore. It is up to Hasi to get Malinwa back on track.
KV Mechelen has just appointed a new T1. He added: “The club has full confidence in the sports staff, and therefore no further changes will be made there.” The fixed values are that Fred Vanderbest and Günter Vanhandenhoven as well as the other members remain on board.
KV Mechelen will play at home to Charleroi on Saturday. This match comes too soon for Hassi. T2 Fred Vanderbiest will be on the sidelines and will also be doing all the preparations. Besnik Hasi will meet the group of players in the coming days and will take over the T1 role from Sunday.
Besnik Hasi announced on the club’s website that he is already counting on the 12th man. “As a player and as a coach, we were always afraid to play against Mechelen, especially at home. Many supporters support their team fanatically. Therefore I call on all fans to come en masse to the stadium in yellow and red on Saturday.”
