Anna Maura Limburg travels 3000 kilometers through New Zealand

Rodan – With backpack, tent and sleeping bag, Anna Maura Leimberg, who grew up in Rodan – will leave for New Zealand at the end of September 2023. There he walked 3000 kilometers from Cape Reinga in the north to the bluff at South Aotoroa. 'I have lost many members of my family to cancer. It made me realize that life is short and it will end just like that. She starts saving, sells her house and belongings and quits her job. 'I wanted to connect my trip to a good cause, which is KWF Kankerbestrijding.' Anna Maura has now walked over 2,700 kilometers and has already enjoyed countless adventures and made new friends. This week he began his last 300 kilometers, which he will complete in approximately two weeks.

'New Zealanders are the most hospitable people I have ever met. I have already received a lot of love in the form of lifts, food, places to sleep and charity. They love to share their stories about the country's history and landscape. The terrain varies greatly!' She now crossed rivers and saw mountains with volcanoes and emerald green lakes. 'I also saw hundreds of huts along the way.' His route mainly runs through the middle of New Zealand, making the South Island particularly challenging.

She will return home in early May. 'I'm going to live in a van so I can save money again. In the meantime, if necessary, I will resume teaching throughout the country.' When she returns she will write a book about her trip. She made her own paintings with watercolor paints along the way in the huts.
