Hanne Mestdagh faces a new challenge abroad. The Belgian cat will play with Las Palmas in Gran Canaria next season. The Spanish club announced this on Monday.
The 28-year-old Moustadagh left Namur where she played for the past three seasons. It will be her third outdoor adventure. She previously played in the United States for Colorado State University (2011-2015) and in Germany at Freiburg (2016-2017). In her country, she was also active in Ypres, Sint-Katelijne-Waver and Castors Braine.
“I am very happy to be able to play abroad again, a few years after my return to Belgium,” Mustadagh said in the first reaction. ‘I would like to try it again. I am very happy because in Spain, one of the best leagues in Europe. Las Palmas is a club with a great tradition in Spain. The club does well with young players and has healthy ambitions.
Las Palmas finished eighth in Spain last season and will play in the European Cup qualifiers next season.
Tasted has been active with the Belgian Cats at the Olympic Basketball Tournament in Tokyo in recent weeks. In their first participation, the Cats narrowly lost in the quarter-finals to host country Japan (86-85). Mustadagh has 97 selections in the national team and was previously there in the 2017 European Championship (bronze), 2018 World Cup (4th), European Championship 2019 (5th) and European Championship 2021 (bronze).
Next season, she will meet in Spain with the Belgian cat Antonia Delery, who will play with Zaragoza, and perhaps also the Belgian cat Jana Raman, if she manages to stay with Estudiantes Madrid.
