Blumenthal’s women’s selection has been strengthened for the coming season. New Zealander Tyler Lench was caught recently.

HC Blumenthal has roped in New Zealand international Tyler Lenz (25) as a reinforcement for the Ladies 1.

The attacking midfielder is currently playing for his country during the World Hockey Championship in Amstelveen. This is followed by the Commonwealth Games (July 28-August 7) in Birmingham, before the 25-year-old Lench reports to ‘de Kopje’.

Lench hopes to become a hockey star in the Dutch tournament. ,,Certainly on a tactical level, European and particularly Dutch teams play differently than they do at home in New Zealand. I hope to learn a lot in that area.

,, With Lench we bring extra speed to our game. She’s an attacking midfielder and lightning fast because of her background in athletics,” said Koen Hemmes of Blumenthal’s Women’s Hockey Committee.

With the previously announced arrivals of Argentina’s Majo Granato and Germany’s Sonja Zimmermann, Blumenthal will have more experienced players through this third international.
