On Tuesday, May 21, BreinPunt will hold a meeting on fall prevention for people with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, or acquired brain injury and their loved ones.
Falls pose a serious risk to older adults and can result in serious injuries, long-term rehabilitation, and even permanent disabilities. For people with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, or acquired brain injury, the risk of falling can be greater due to decreased mobility, coordination problems, and decreased spatial awareness. Therefore, it is crucial to raise awareness about fall prevention and provide practical strategies that can reduce the risk of falling.
BreinPunt recognizes the challenges faced by older adults and their loved ones and strives to provide valuable information and support to promote safety and well-being.
During this meeting, two expert colleagues from WIEL will be present to discuss the importance of fall prevention and provide practical advice. In addition, there will be a so-called “smart floor” that visitors can walk on to measure the risk of falling. You can also participate in this using a walking stick or roller.
The meeting will be held at ‘t Huiken, Lange Wijden 33a in Elburg. Registration begins at 7:00 pm and the program begins at 7:30 pm. The evening continues until 9 pm. BreinPunt warmly invites anyone interested in this topic to attend the meeting. Registration is not required and admission is free.
