Worrying news from Denmark. Former Anderlecht midfielder Christopher Olsson (28 years old) was hospitalized last week due to a severe brain disorder, FC Midtjylland said. Specialists were looking for the cause for a week.

“With more and more rumors circulating about Christopher Olsson's recent absence, we are forced to communicate this matter,” Danish club FC Midtjylland begins its statement. Their 28-year-old midfielder lost consciousness last Tuesday while at home, and was immediately taken to hospital. He has been on a ventilator ever since. But specialists have not yet been able to make a diagnosis.

“Christopher has suffered from what appears to be a severe brain condition. This is not caused by self-harm or other external factors. Everyone at FC Midtjylland has been deeply affected by this sudden illness. Our thoughts and support go out to Christopher and his family. We ask for the public’s respect so that Christopher, his family and the doctors can rest easy.” “Until we get more information, we will not communicate.”

Since last summer, Olsson has been playing permanently with the Midtjylland club, which stole him from Anderlecht for 2.8 million euros. There he played a total of 48 matches over two seasons, but was unable to score. In the summer of 2021, he joined the Purple & White team, which paid 4 million euros for the Swede. However, Olson was unable to meet (high) expectations. In his first season, under Vincent Kompany, he played a lot – and was also in the starting lineup in the cup final. But Olson gradually disappeared from sight. At the beginning of last season, he was loaned to FC Midtjylland, where he coached permanently.

“RSC Anderlecht is shocked to hear the news about Christopher. Chris has always made a perfect impression on everyone within the club. We all hope that Chris makes a speedy and full recovery. Our thoughts are with him and his loved ones,” Purple & White wrote on the club’s channels.

Olsson is also a Swedish international and was twice present in the European Championship qualifiers against the Red Devils.
