Jente Hauttekeete totaled 8150 points in Tallinn, the world’s best performer of the year and the fourth best performer ever in U20.
In addition, Hauttekete also set his Belgian U20 record more sharply. That’s been in his name since last month. Then Hauttekeete scored 8,034 points in Tenerife, revising Thomas van der Pleizen’s previous record of 265 points.
In Tallinn, he won by 138 points over North Sander Schottheim. Bronze went to Frenchman Theo Bastien.
Hauttekeete also advances on Saturday after the first five tests. Sunday continued his momentum and set a best time in the 110m hurdles at 14:09. In the discus throw he reached 43.69 m and in the pole vault he reached 4.60 m.
In javelin throwing, he finished eighth in a personal best result of 54.28 meters and eventually 1500 meters record 5 in 4’42” 62, which immediately assured him the overall win. It went to fellow countryman Jeff Misspelon, who finished the decathlon with 6,054 points and center sixteen.
Earlier this year, Hauttekeete improved the 11-year-old’s under-20 world record in Frankfurt, with a total of 6,062 points. In doing so, he became the first junior ever to reach the 6000 point mark.
