Kirsten Flipkens qualified in the US Open final in mixed doubles. Along with Frenchman Edouard Roger Vasselin, Flickens settled in the semi-finals with a Sino-Croatian duo.
Kirsten Flickens said goodbye to singles at Wimbledon, but the 36-year-old Belgian still has a strong opinion of the doubles.
In the women’s doubles, Flipkens, along with Sarah Sorribes, ended up in the quarter-finals, but in the mixed doubles, our compatriot reached the final.
Last night Flipkens and France’s Edouard Roger Vaslin were too strong for the Chinese Zhang Shuai and the Croatian Maty Pavic in 3 sets.
The first two groups were neatly divided. This is followed not by a full set of 3 sets, but one according to the principle of “super tiebreak”, in which, among other things, 10 points are played first. Flipkens and her French doubles partner won 10-6.
In the final, Flickins and Roger Vassilin will meet an American or Australian duo. The Belgian will be the first Grand Slam final of her long career.
