From Thursday to Sunday, W-Festival will pitch its tents in Ostend on the Klein Strand. Kleppers like Ronan Keating and The Jacksons grace the main stage. On Wednesday, though, there was already some rocker on stage with Sinner’s Day Special, with the exclusive reunion of The Neon Judgment and Front 242 as the ultimate climax.
Five Days of Celebrating the North Sea in the background: This is the 2021 W Festival. The first version was held five years ago on a meadow in Wortegem. A year later, I went to the historic fields of Ammojis, and finally to the Warigem metropolitan area.
This year it can take place in Ostend. “Coronavirus has thrown a wrench in the works for the entire sector and exposed weaknesses in the entire sector,” the organization said. “Since we must put safety first, it has been decided to move the Sinner’s Day Special Event, along with the W Festival, to Ostend. At sea there is room to breathe and especially space to organize the outbreak of the virus safely.”
Wednesday was the “Sinner’s Day Special” on the show, where new wave and punk fans will get their money’s worth. Whisper of Sons, Little Gods, Ramkot, Mystery, Asma and Bish were the headlines in the afternoon.
Neon Reign Reunion
But the absolute climax is the reunion of The Neon Judgment – a Belgian band that was very popular in their country, especially in the 1980s. The group’s popularity waned in the 1990s. In 2009 they released a new album called “Smack”. But in 2015, the group decided to discontinue it after 35 years. On Klein Strand, the group once again returned to the stage in all its glory. Legendary Day, along with a performance by Front 242 and some other great bands.
On Thursday 26th, Friday 27th, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th August, 80s music fans will have their money back. After all, W-Festival was born out of love and passion for ’80s music and aims to bring together fans of the genre. Top artists such as The Human League, The Jacksons, Ronan Keating, Nina and Marc Almond, along with many other artists, will perform during the four-day festival.
