Nikki Haley questions Trump's mental abilities | outside

In the United States, Nikki Haley questioned Donald Trump's mental capabilities ahead of Tuesday's Republican primary election in New Hampshire. She did so on Saturday during a campaign rally.

Trump, 77, appeared to confuse Haley on Friday with Nancy Pelosi, the former Democratic Speaker of the House. Regarding the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, he referred to Haley several times, when he likely meant Pelosi.

“I wasn't even in Washington on January 6,” Haley told voters in New Hampshire. “My concern — without wanting to be disparaging — is that when you talk about the pressures of the presidency, we can't have someone who we question is mentally fit enough to do that.”

Almost senile

The 52-year-old former governor of South Carolina and US ambassador to the United Nations also spoke about the issue in an interview with Fox News. “I'm not saying it's as bad as Joe Biden, but do we really want two octogenarians running for president?” Haley said. “Do we really want to see them throwing names and making mistakes at the age of 80, when they have to deal with Putin, Xi and Kim?” she said, referring to the leaders of Russia, China and North Korea.

Donald Trump himself regularly mocks the 81-year-old Biden's gaffes. The Republican portrays the current Democratic president as almost senile.

Trump remains the most likely candidate to win the Republican Party nomination in the upcoming presidential elections. Last Monday he easily won the caucus in Iowa. Haley placed third behind Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
