The Netherlands women’s soccer team won the World Cup qualifier against Belarus tonight with great difficulty. National coach Mark Parsons’ team won 0-2 in Minsk thanks to goals from League Martens and Daniel van de Dong. Stefanie van der Gragt from Heerhugowaard and fellow Ajax player Sherida Spitse played the entire game for the Orange team.
The game started without Vivian Midema, who scored the most goals for the Orange team. Striker Minsk did not go and was rested. So Jill Rudd started at the point of attack. The absence of mediocrity was clearly observed, as Orange had difficulty locating Belarus’ target.

League Martens scored the opening goal in the 70th minute with a curled shot. After 1-0, Belarus ‘opposition was broken and Van de Dong scored the Netherlands’ second and decisive goal soon after. No risk of victory after 2-0.
With this victory the Netherlands team continues to top the group with 10 points in 4 matches. Only number one qualifies directly for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in two years. Runner-up will play the play-off.
