Italian Serie AWhile Charles de Kettleri’s transfer to AC Milan is currently being finalized, a look at some of the leading figures from the Italian media behind CDK’s move to Fashion City.
Including this weekend, De Ketelaere has appeared 21 times with a photo on the front page of Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport in the past two months. Romelu Lukaku (31 times) and Paulo Dybala (27), who are also key players in the transfer story, fared better. Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria (both for Juventus) often graced the cover. De Ketelaere has been the main story eight times. The paper relied on the power of repetition mainly in the absence of serious news and other newcomers to Milan. Every day their journalists have to fill out at least two pages about AC Milan alone.
On June 5, De Ketelaere made his debut in front of La Gazzetta with a small photo. “Zaniolo or De Ketelaere: Maldini chooses between the golden boys.”
In its hard copy and on its website for Italy’s largest sports newspaper, De Ketelaere has appeared in 175 articles in the past two months. About three updates a day. It doesn’t even make the top ten. Dybala, Lukaku, Pogba, Mourinho, Pogba, Zaniolo and De Ligt, among others, received more marks.
On July 17, the Gazzetta came out victorious with the title “90 minutes to the end and then Ketelaere of Milan.” 90 minutes long sometimes. It eventually became over 17,000.
