According to a union source, there could be 26 days of temporary unemployment in the period until June. Ten of them have already been published in the current two weeks.
In addition, it will also be examined whether the production speed can be reduced. If the belt runs slower, fewer people will be needed, which would be bad news for the plant's roughly 500 temporary workers.
According to Peter Dore, spokesman for the Brussels plant, production is currently “with a two-week forecast, as the supply of parts remains volatile and it is always possible to make changes at short notice.”
The unions conclude from production planning that the factory's Q8 e-tron luxury electric SUV does not perform well commercially. According to a union official, Audi Brussels aims to produce around 53,000 cars for 2024, a similar figure for 2023.
Earlier this week, it was also announced that the new generation Q8 e-tron will not be produced at the Forest plant from 2027. Prime Minister Alexander De Croo announced during Question Period in Parliament that there will be a working group to study the future of Audi Brussels.
