The management of biscuit and chocolate production company Mondelēz in Herentals announces an investment of €40 million in new technology and equipment. This is what the Gazette van Antwerp wrote. The chocolate bars and crispy chocolate tarts will then be produced entirely to Herentals. The production of Easter eggs disappears.
A strategic analysis was recently conducted at Mondelēz in Herentals where long-term growth ambitions were recorded. On this basis, an investment plan was drawn up. By purchasing new machines, the factory in Herenthals can take over the production of chocolate bars from other factories, as well as supporting the future growth of brands such as Côte d’Or and Milka LEO. On the other hand, the production of chocolate Easter eggs would have to move to another location. The department is too small and too expensive.
The company is now looking for a solution for employees. Because the investment is likely to involve a shift in the workforce. But bare separation is excluded.
