Within four minutes, six paintings were stolen from a gallery in Eindhoven on Tuesday morning. This confirms artist Jan van de Loo from the gallery VDL Art. The total value is more than 75,000 euros. “Everything is on screen. Two men stayed inside for four minutes. They are very heavy paintings, so they did it consciously with a good plan.”
One of the paintings was by Kes Paul, and the other five stolen paintings are by Cornelis Le Maire. The fair held Le Mair exhibition last year, which was attended by a large number of people. There were 70,000 visitors in six weeks. He is a famous and well known artist here. I think this is the third time his paintings have been stolen.”
Van de Loo hopes the perpetrators’ car can be photographed, because downtown Eindhoven is full of cameras. He concludes, “The police were, now we’ll have to wait and see.”
