TERNAT plans climatic forests at the former Heidestraat football stadium

Saturday from 10 am a climatic forest will be planted in part of the old sports grounds in SK Lumbek, on land owned by the municipal council. This is done in collaboration with Regional Landscape, Bos+, and the district’s Flemish Brabant Forest Group. Through the Bos+ Climate Forest Trust, a sponsor was found to cover part of the costs, Eco-Heating from Melle.

For this planting, Eco-Heating from Melle sponsors and they come to plant 1,300 trees. This makes the already planted wooded sides a one-hectare forest.

Both farms are part of Plan Steenuil, a partnership that works near Liedekerkebos-Hertigembos-Ternat to promote public support and tangible natural actions. The main objective is the qualitative connection of the remaining parts of nature and open space with each other and with the Liedekerke-Hertigembos by step-by-step transforming the intermediate area into a forest or nature reserve, by creating small landscape elements or by designing private gardens and landscapes in a natural way.. public spaces. The resulting ecologically continuous green zone should make nature’s existing cores more robust (climatic) and provide nature with more breathing space.

The planting will take place on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 10 am on the Heidestraat near the Padel Stadiums (Heidestraat 71, 1742 Ternat). You can park across from the padel stadiums (see map). The transplant is done behind the ground as evidenced by Heidestraat.
