RestoresThe caretaker’s house at De Mixx Leisure Center in Herselt, which has been converted into a co-working space, will be used first as a shelter for Ukrainian refugees. At least two to three families will find shelter there.
De Mixx’s caretaker house hasn’t been used as such for a while and that’s not the intention in the future either. The entrepreneurial organization UNIZO Herselt has been calling for the creation of co-working spaces in the municipality for some time.
In those shared office spaces, home workers can work in a neutral workplace. In addition, the novice entrepreneurs will also be able to go there and the entrepreneurs can meet each other there. To answer this question, the Herslt City Council decided to convert the caretaker’s house into a co-working space.
However, due to the crisis in Ukraine, the Council, in consultation with UNIZO, decided to use the space first as a shared accommodation to receive Ukrainian refugees and to pause plans for the co-working space.
“Due to the large rooftop area, a minimum of two to three families can be accommodated. The central location of De Mixx also ensures that residents have easy access to school, relaxation, play opportunities and childcare. Moreover, our services are close by, so that practical questions or problems can be quickly resolved .
