Your body gets energy from food. But the amount of energy you need depends largely on how active you are during the day. If you exercise a lot, you’ll need a few more calories than someone who sits in an office chair all day. Men also need more calories than women due to increased muscle mass.
How many calories per day?
But how do you know how much energy your body needs to get through its day? The easiest way to find out is to keep an eye on the gauge. Weigh yourself at the same time every week to analyze whether your weight is stable or fluctuating. Are you losing weight? Then you eat very little. If you’re overweight, you’re probably consuming too many calories in one day.
Fairly active or moderately active
Since the number of calories a person needs is very personal, it’s a good idea to base it on the scale. The nutrition center also has some Guidelines You can follow them to get an idea of what a healthy number of calories per day is for you. First, they distinguish between moderately active and moderately active people. Light activity means that you have a sedentary job that doesn’t require you to hop on a bike, that you do light housework, and that you don’t exercise or exercise a lot in your free time. You are fairly active if you do a fair amount of physical activity in addition to your sedentary job.
They then correlate the number of calories you need per day to these categories. This also varies by age. The tip: Slightly active women, ages 40 to 59, need about 1,900 calories a day, according to the Nutrition Center. Moderately active women in this age group need about 2,200 calories per day.
