The World Series of Darts will take place this weekend in Hamilton before the 2024 finale concludes in Amsterdam in mid-September with the New Zealand Darts Masters.
The New Zealand Darts Masters is the seventh and final tournament of the year, following World Series of Darts in Bahrain, Netherlands, USA, Denmark, Poland and Australia. New Zealand once again have some of the best players in the world against some of the best from Oceania. The World Series of Darts Finals will be held in Amsterdam later this year.
One of the players that the home crowd is most looking forward to is Hauboy Buha. Earlier this year, the 39-year-old darts player became the first New Zealander to win a PDC Tour card at Q-School. ‘Hobbes’ is currently ranked 117th in the world.
He will face Rob Cross in the opening round of the New Zealand Darts Masters. A repeat of last week’s 6-5 defeat by Buha to the same cross in the first round of the Australian Darts Masters. “I was lucky not to lose 6-0 to Rob last week, but I was a bit unlucky not to win in the end, so hopefully I can start a bit better and build a strong finish to the tournament.”
Meeting at home
As for Buha, this year is the only time he will play a major tournament in his home country. I am really looking forward to the 2019 World Cup of Darts quarter-finals. And I hope I can show my best.
If Buha defeats Cross, he will face the winner of the match between Australians Damon Hedda and Simon Whitlock in the quarter-finals.
