Substitute Gimenez almost scored a penalty when the score was 2-0. Referee Drew Fisher awarded a penalty, but VAR intervened. The Feyenoord player then received a yellow card for a foul.
The match was stopped twice by referee Fischer. Homosexual chants were heard from the Mexican audience. Last year, the semi-final match was stopped four minutes before the end due to such chants.

Jamaica won the consolation final
USA had previously knocked out Jamaica in the semi-finals of the tournament. Mexico won against Panama. Jamaica came out on top in yesterday's consolation final. Scottish Hearts' Dexter Lembigisa scored the only goal.
