Will Wenger return to Arsenal? Arteta: ‘He can still make a huge contribution’ | Premier League

Premier LeagueArsenal boss Mikel Arteta is ready for that if Arsene Wenger returns to the club. The Spanish coach confirmed that the talks had already taken place.

“There was contact already. I saw him recently when we were at his movie premiere and we talked. It was great to see him and talk to him. I hope we can bring him closer to the club,” said Red Devils coach Albert Sambi Lukonga.

“I think he can make a huge contribution to the club. Because I think he can create a certain atmosphere, because of the respect and admiration that everyone in the club has for what he has done and also what he represents as a person at this club.”

According to Arteta, the decisive move has to come mainly from Wenger himself. “Things take time, and I think he has to control himself. What I can say on my part – and I think speaking for everyone – is that we would be very happy with him being so much closer.”

Arsenal were promoted to the Premier League after a poor start. “The Gunners” is now in fifth place. Under Wenger, who retired in 2018, Arsenal have been at the top of England for years. In 2004 he led the club to the league title and since then the London club has not topped the champions again.

Arteta succeeded Unai Emery in the 2019-20 season. Emery, who was sacked two years ago, is now working at Villarreal.
