Xiaomi shows its first electric car with the SU7 – Image and Sound – News

Xiaomi showed off its first electric car. This concerns a sedan called the SU7 which will have a maximum battery of 101 kWh with an 800 volt charging structure. The sedan has a range of 800 kilometers based on the Chinese standard, which is often higher than the European standard.

SU7 is released in two versions. The regular SU7 is a rear-wheel drive electric car with a 73.6 kWh battery. Engadget reports. This also only supports 400V charging, which means it will charge slower than the higher-end model with an 800V build. The SU7 has a range of up to 668 kilometers based on the CLTC standard, a Chinese standard that is often higher than the WLTP range used in Europe.

The SU7 Max comes higher than the SU7. This gets all-wheel drive and a larger 101 kWh battery with an 800-volt charging architecture. It can provide a range of up to 220 kilometers with 5 minutes of charging, or 510 kilometers with 15 minutes of charging. Both models are 4,997 meters long, 1,963 meters wide, and 1,440 meters high.

The electric car will feature the HyperOS operating system running with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8295 SoC. This controls, among other things, the central 16.1-inch 3K infotainment screen. Users can cast from their Xiaomi phone to this central screen. The car must also support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Behind the two front seats there will be holders for Xiaomi Pad – tablets.

Both cars get Nvidia Drive Orin processors for standalone functions, although the Max version gets two processors, one more than the regular SU7. This processor works with the lidar sensor on the surface, among other things. Xiaomi wants to test self-driving cars in more than a hundred Chinese cities by the end of 2024.

It is not known whether the SU7 will come to Europe and how much the car will cost. The electronics manufacturer announced in 2021 that it wants to manufacture electric cars. Later that year, the company said mass production should begin in the first half of 2024.
