The Greater Cheraw Chamber of Commerce is offering the 2014-15 Leadership Cheraw class, beginning in September, for the upcoming year.
The leadership class will meet on the first Tuesday of each month from September through May 2015. There will be a social hour for all class participants on Aug. 28.
Organizers said Leadership Cheraw has enjoyed four successful years.
In 2009, the group organized the first All the Jazz Criterium bike race in Cheraw, which has been held for three consecutive years.
The 2010-11 class conducted a facility study for a small business incubator in the Cheraw/Chesterfield County region, and the following year, conducted a study on a permanent location for the Cheraw Farmers’ Market.
The 2013-14 class has begun a project to clean up the amphitheater at the Cheraw State Park in conjunction with the restoration of the House on the Hill project.
The chamber will limit seating to 20 participants for the upcoming class. Tuition for the class is $200 for chamber members and $300 for non-members. Participants will explore topics that include history and tourism, health care, social issues, economic development, education, city and county government and natural resources and agribusiness.
Mia Cole, a recent Leadership Cheraw graduate, is working with the Leadership Cheraw program. Cole said she is looking forward to being actively involved in exploring various aspects of the community and how participants can work to help make the community a better place for everyone.
Businesses and industries are encouraged to place employs in this program. Individuals may also self-nominate.
