Carlisle Traywick Smith, 102, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Trinity Methodist Church in Clio, with burial in Hebron Cemetery. The family will be pleased to receive friends at the King home, 730 Lakeshore Drive, Bennettsville.

He was born in Clio, the son of the late William Charles and Bessie Traywick Smith. He graduated from Clio High School and attended Wofford College. Later, he spent twenty-odd years in the construction industry. He was a former board member of the Cheraw Chamber of Commerce, a former Kiwanian and Rotarian, a member of over fifty plus years of First United Methodist Church, Bennettsville.

He was predeceased by his wife, of 57 years, Patsy Easterling Smith, a brother, David Russell Smith and two sisters, Elizabeth Smith Covington and Anna Hazel Smith Wilson.

Surviving are two daughters, Dr. Edward Cantey (Patricia ) Haile Jr. of Columbia and Donald B. (Kathryn) King Sr. of Bennettsville and Ocean Isle Beach N.C. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
