International logistics giant Kuehne+Nagel has opened Lego’s new regional distribution center in Tessenderlo. More than 10 million building sets are shipped each year.
Since 2012, brick company Lego has been developing its e-commerce business from Geel. However, the new regional distribution center has now been officially opened in Tsenderlo. From this center, Lego building sets are stored and shipped to stores in Benelux, Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France. The investment involves an amount of more than €75 million and will employ more than 100 employees at peak times.
Lego is teaming up with international logistics giant Kuehne+Nagel to operate the warehouse. “By expanding our supply and distribution network, we can continue to meet customer demand in the coming years,” said Carsten Rasmussen, Lego’s chief operating officer.
The warehouse in Tessenderlo can store up to 44,000 pallets and is Lego’s second distribution center in Europe. The Lego company is confident that the delivery time can be significantly shortened. It is estimated that about 10 million construction groups will leave Limburg every year.
