5 tips for tiling over old tiles!

The tiles must be replaced after a number of years. They are worn out or tired of the tiles. After that, removing the old tiles can be quite a task and all kinds of finer materials are also released. Renovation is therefore not a good option and it is much easier to lay tiles on tiles.

Step 1

Before you start overtaking, make sure the entire space is empty. Some tiles may have become hollow. Carefully tap the tiles with a hammer for example. You will soon hear if the tiles have empty space. Then you destroy that tile. This space is later filled with glue, so you don’t have to worry about the height difference.

Step 2

Your old tile likely has a lot of dirt stuck to it. Therefore, clean it well, otherwise the glue will not stick well and the new tile will fall off the wall. We want to avoid that at all costs. If you want to make sure there is no dirt, use this Cleaning and degreasing agent.

Step 3

Then it’s primer time, apply it evenly with the roller. You have to wait a while for the primer to dry. This takes about two to four hours, depending on the substrate, application, humidity, and temperature.

Step 4

Then you can Kakalijm Add. Do this evenly with a trowel. Do not apply everything at once, the glue may already have dried before you start tiling. So work in parts.

Fifth step

You are now ready to start tiling. Apply the tiles to the new adhesive in a light sliding motion. Make sure the tiles are very good at the adhesive. This way you avoid cavitation. When that’s done, it’s just about stuffing and then you’re ready!
