Besnik Hasi (51 years old) has become the new coach of KV Mechelen. The former RSC Anderlecht coach will soon sign Achter de Kazerne’s contract. He succeeds Stephen Devore.
Besnik Hassi has been without a club since his dismissal from Al-Ahly Saudi Arabia in March 2022. He previously coached Al-Raed, Olympiacos, Legia Warsaw, and of course Anderlecht. He led the Purple and White team to the title in the 2013-2014 season.
Hassi faces a difficult task with KV Mechelen, who is only 14th in the league after a disappointing start to the season. A cup elimination to amateur club Knock last week led to the departure of Steven Devore. It is up to Hasi to get Malinwa back on track. It is not yet clear what Mechelen’s team will look like under Hassi. If all goes according to plan, he will sign his contract with KV Mechelen on Wednesday or Thursday.
