We mainly know Swedish developer Starbreeze Studios from PayDay Games, but it has now been announced that work is underway behind the scenes on a new game currently known as ‘Project Baxter’. It will be very different from clowns robbing banks, because Project Baxter will be a game set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe.
On the Official website The game is described as follows:
Baxter is Starbreeze’s next internal project. Set in the Dungeons & DragonsĀ® universe, the game will feature Starbreeze Productions’ signature game capstone; Multiplayer co-op, lifelong commitment through a games-as-a-service model, community engagement, and a larger-than-life experience. Project Baxter is scheduled to release on all major platforms in 2026 and will be produced in Unreal Engine 5. Stay tuned for more updates!
There’s not a lot of concrete information yet, but it makes sense considering the game was just announced. We’ll definitely be hearing more about this in the coming years and you can of course also read all the updates here. We’ve already received two pieces of concept art, which you can admire at the top and bottom of this article.
