One of the most evocative pieces of technology in the Pokémon world is the Pokédex, a portable digital encyclopedia that tells you everything you need to know about the Pokémon you encounter during your adventure. Now, for the first time ever, a YouTuber has put together a “real” Pokédex, and the result is pretty impressive.
With the Pokédex, it's always been the same with Poké Balls until now. You can find them as merchandise, and one version is more advanced than the other, but it's nothing like the Pokémon anime series. Just as Poké Balls don't emit lasers to absorb Pokémon, you can't simply point a Pokédex at a Pokémon to gain information.
But that has changed now thanks to Abe's projects. A YouTuber has put together a Pokédex that is able to recognize Pokémon via the camera and ChatGPT's AI, making the Pokédex look like a real Pokédex.
The end result is of course not perfect, but this can be considered a hobby project of course. It also instantly makes you dream more, because if one YouTuber can pull this stuff together, wouldn't a bigger company with more resources be able to make it happen? Any idea, Nintendo?
