Italy wins the Eurovision Song Contest, and Belgium is nineteenth

After the points were distributed by the jury, Belgium ranked thirteenth with 71 points. There were 3 more spectator points, for which Hooverphonic scored a total of 74 points. Result: Nineteenth place.

Embarrassing for the Big Five, the five countries that sponsor the most money and thus can go straight to the final match: three of them ended with zero points by spectators: the United Kingdom, Spain and Germany. The United Kingdom was the only one to not get any points from the jury. James Newman has to go home with a sad zero point.
