“Harming the religious feelings of believers,” which is why blogger Ruslan Bobyev (23 years old) and model Anastasia Chistova (19 years old) were arrested at the end of October. They have posted a photo on social media mimicking it and it pleases him. Both were dressed, but nevertheless were sentenced to ten months in prison because St. Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square in Moscow could be seen in the background. Earlier, a 22-year-old woman was arrested and her breasts were photographed in front of the same cathedral. A 31-year-old woman wearing a thong was also arrested in front of Saint Isaac’s Cathedral in Saint Petersburg.

This is the first time that Russia has acted harshly on the feelings of believers. However, the law has been around since 2013. It was enacted after feminist group Pussy Riot gave a 40-second performance at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. However, the influencers in question – unlike Pussy Riot – had no political intent and the photos were “mainly intended for who they like”.
