Animek van Vleuten was seriously injured in a fall at Paris-Roubaix. The Dutch cyclist from Movistar fell hard on the cobblestones, which are so characteristic of the Northern France course. Meanwhile, her team confirmed that Van Vleuten had fractured her pelvis.

According to Van Vleuten was general newspaper I informed her before her medical examination that she could not walk. That did not bode well, and the results of the study were difficult: a fracture of the pubic bone. This news was confirmed by her team shortly thereafter. “She will be taken home to work on her recovery. The season is over for her.” The pubis is a piece of bone located at the bottom and front of the pelvis.
Van Vleuten’s luck was often bad at the end of the season. Last year, she fractured her wrist shortly before the World Cup finals kicked off at Giro Rosa. In 2018, she broke her knee during the cycling world championships in Innsbruck.
Her team offered their condolences on Twitter. “It is very unfortunate to see you in so much pain and to end the season so abruptly that you did not deserve it. Not only were you the best cyclist in the world in 2021. Your example has helped our team and organization move forward.”
Van Vleuten was by no means the only jockey to crash at the Paris-Roubaix. Including Elisa Longo Borghini (Third place, editor)World champion Eileen van Dijk and departing Julien Dehors also got to know the roads of northern France up close. Van Dyck and Dohr continued to hit the Rubiks track.
