The Select Group, the sponsor of Antwerp, shares this view as well. The HR firm does not agree with the appointment of Marc Overmars as Director of Football, and has stated in a statement that it no longer wishes to commit to the club. The sponsorship contract will not be renewed next season.
“We are very surprised by this decision. As a permanent partner and sponsor of the RAFC, we have not been consulted or notified in advance,” Select Group said in a statement.
“The decision to appoint Mr Overmars, who has recently been accused of repeated infringing conduct and is currently the subject of an independent investigation in the Netherlands, is in direct conflict with our Select Group’s values and standards.”
