A number of Belgian companies will work together to share knowledge about quantum computers. This concerns a consortium called the Quantum Circle, which includes Belfius, Proximus, IBM, and various governments.
Quantum circuit It is an initiative through which Belgian companies and institutions try to bring other interested parties together “under one roof”. The companies want to develop a “technology ecosystem” around quantum computers and computing, but also want to foster collaboration between academic institutions, research institutes, and the public and private sectors. The organization is also paying more attention to research and education surrounding quantum computers.
in White paper The organization writes that it wants to consider four principles within quantum computing. These are coding, simulation, optimization and machine learning. Together, these include “a wide range of use cases that can benefit from improved performance in quantum technology.” Organizations want to work to ensure the application of quantum computing in areas such as the world of finance, aviation or the chemical sector.
At present, there are twenty institutions affiliated with the consortium. These include provider Proximus, Belfuius Bank, imec, IBM and the Flemish Ministry of the Interior. Businesses and organizations can also register themselves if they want to participate.
