Over the Easter weekend, the city of Bruges will undergo a transformation with the opening of the exhibition Triennale Bruges 2024: Spaces of Possibility. This fourth edition of the event marks the beginning of nearly five months in which the city emerges as a canvas for contemporary art installations and architecture. Starting April 13, the Bruges Triennale welcomes the public to experience the city through a new lens, with twelve unique works that reveal the hidden potential of Bruges.
The Triennale invites residents and visitors of Bruges to explore lesser-known places in the city. This expedition not only provides a new vision of the urban environment, but also stimulates a conversation about the future and possibilities of urban development.
The Triennial will officially open on Sunday 14 April at the Stadshallen, where Brussels architecture firm Traumnovelle stands out with its installation “The Joyful Apocalypse”. This artwork turns the courtyard into a stage for city life, and symbolically features a celebratory drink served by the city council.
Today's program is rich in free activities, designed to highlight works of art in an interactive and engaging way. Visitors can participate in a treasure hunt, taste herbal lemonade, make their own seed bombs or get swept up in the stories behind the artworks. It is an invitation to experience the artistic dialogue in Bruges and participate in the celebration of creativity and community spirit.
