Dutch police found a dead man in a car in a canal near the village of Zeeland in Retranchement, between Knokke-Heist and Cadzand. A police spokesman was not yet able to say what had happened. “We are keeping all scenarios open,” the spokesman said.

The discovery was made along Kanaalweg, about a kilometer and a half across the border with Belgium. That reports Omroep Zeeland. Retranchement is part of the municipality of Sluis.
It was reported that the car was found around 7:30 am. The car almost completely disappeared under the water. Divers from the fire service found the dead man in the car.
