Incidentally, the affected employees were the first to be informed by EA that their contracts would not be extended, and only after they were informed would managers and higher project leaders also be informed.

Since the contracts expire in a few weeks and will therefore not be extended, many employees now have to urgently look for new work.

It's not clear what the closure of the UK QA team says about the future of Apex Legends. Recently, EA has been very positive about the franchise and has talked about expanding it beyond the traditional battle royale world. However, at the same time, Apex Legends has also received negative press recently, including when professional players were hacked live during the final match of a major tournament.
