Nearly ten thousand people in Curaçao have COVID-19. Today, more than 1,100 new infections have been added. Yesterday three people died in the hospital, today two. The total number of people who have succumbed to the effects of the virus since the start of the epidemic is now 199.
Eleven people are now in intensive care, one more than yesterday. Twenty patients are in the Covid ward, just like yesterday.
After an initial decline on Monday, the number of infections rose again on Tuesday. The record for Thursday, January 6, was not achieved today, but it was close. A record was reached with 9,979 active cases. Never before have so many people contracted the virus on the island at the same time.
Aruba
The number of infections in Aruba has decreased slightly today. 575 people have tested positive for Covid-19, 135 fewer than yesterday.
The number of active cases has decreased from about 3,300 to just over 3,000. More than 900 people have been allowed to leave their place of isolation. They no longer have symptoms of COVID-19 and are no longer contagious.
One patient was allowed to leave the intensive care unit, and there are now three people with coronavirus. There are 23 patients on the Covid ward, three fewer than yesterday.
Bonaire
In Bonaire, a patient died today from the consequences of Covid. Since the start of the pandemic, 25 people have died of Covid-19 in Bonaire.
The number of new infections rose sharply. An additional 158 people have tested positive today. The number of active cases increased from 787 yesterday to 815 today.
There are four patients in hospital with covid-19, the same number as yesterday.
