Nvidia launches Planet Earth II to predict climate change

In addition to a new ultra-fast chip, Nvidia also launched a second version of Earth. It's about Earth-2, a digital twin from which climate change can be predicted.

Earth-2 was created to simulate weather and climate, in order to better prepare for what is to come. Whether in the short or long term. The goal is to ultimately look forward to decades to come.

The cloud software runs on supercomputers. How accurate the predictions are depends on how much computing power is sent to this second Earth. Thanks to the use of artificial intelligence models, predictions can be made a thousand times faster than with current technology, and thanks to the high accuracy, fewer details are missed.

Typhoons in Taiwan

Earth-2 was announced back in 2021, but now Earth's digital twin is ready. Taiwan's Central Weather Administration is one of the first to use this technology to improve typhoon forecasts in order to evacuate people faster.
