Jupiler Pro LeagueKV Mechelen lost 1-0 at Seraing. A defensive blunder by Vinicius Sousa proved fatal to Malinoa. After last week’s impressive victory over Antwerp, he will soon be back on Earth.
Wouter Franken’s forces had a hard time against the sharpened Seraing almost immediately. They lost control and calm on the ball. There was already an attempt by Cuypers in the opening stage, but the greatest opportunities were for the Liège players. Bernier saw Koki save, and Gallo narrowly missed.
Malinoa was warned, but she did not wake up. Vinicius Souza has played very well towards Cook. The goalkeeper Mechelen could no longer reach the ball, and Mondelmadji – “Marius” – broke up the present happily: 1-0. Just as against Antwerp (then Vanlerberg allowed himself to be a striker), KV fell behind after a defensive blunder. Shaking in defense, Micklin simply couldn’t come out offensively. In the first inning, a bike kick from Jallow went far. Malinoa survived and may be pleased that the score was just 1-0 at the break.
The start of the second half wasn’t much better for Mechelen than the first. We haven’t seen a large-scale attack for a long time. On the other hand, Syring was playing free and free with good organization. On the clock, Franken stepped in. Hermanns, Druve, Storm and Enggall exits. The Swedish striker in particular brought something extra. Lots of grinta and goodwill.
KV Mechelen finally insisted. Dietsch pushed a Schoofs free kick out of his cage. In the ensuing corner, I hit the ball through and an invulnerability was so surprised by the far post that he couldn’t push it. The heels from my morabeti couldn’t bother Deitch, who knew a generally quiet evening. On the other side, Bernier collided with Coc.
It remains 1-0. First defeat for KV Mechelen, PhD student Seraing takes his first points of the season.
