The British royal couple will be leaving for the Caribbean on a working visit this weekend. A visit to the farm at Indian Creek, scheduled for Sunday, was the first on the tour. But the visit has now been cancelled.
According to the Daily Mail, residents protested the arrival of the princely couple on Friday. The village has a land dispute with Flora and Fauna International, an NGO sponsored by Prince William. The background is the land rights that were still granted during the colonial period.
“We don’t want the couple on our land, that’s the message we want to send them,” the village spokesperson said.
The American couple will land in Belize this afternoon, where they will meet the Governor General and the Prime Minister. After that he goes to Jamaica and the Bahamas.
